We found this hidden cafe on our way to the Kilauea Volcano. It looked like a colorful house you would expect to have a nice family live in. The happy outdoor color matched the ambience of the restaurant. Everything was made to order and produce was locally grown. I got a salad and my husband got a roast beef sandwich. We also got a hibiscus tonic with ginger beer and turmeric and iced tea. All our choices were delicious!!
The owners were very kind and accommodated our needs. For example, they didn't have iced tea on the menu so they went out of their way to brew us our own pot of iced tea. They also made sure our boys were comfortable by making their sandwiches first!!
Highly recommend this on your way up to the volcano where they don't serve food! The coffee and ginger beer were both highly recommend but unfortunately we were so content after our meal that we didn't get to try it! Thank you for the experience! -

Very welcoming and homey ambience. Waitress was very attentive and accommodating. Food was brought out in a timely manner without so much as a hiccup. Will definitely be visiting Honi Wai every time we come up to the Big Island

We found this little café on the way to Hilo. It was a delightful find with a wonderful ambience. It was cute, homey, and the food was quite good. The mokalitas were excellent. Met the owner and learned a bit of history about the place. Great menu options!

Great place! Tasty food! Made a pit stop here to grab a snack, and so happy we did. Recommend the Aloha Plate and Hawaiian Nachos. Ingredients are very fresh and staff are lovely. The Thai tea comes with ice cubes made of Thai tea--a nice touch! This spot is worth checking out.

We enjoyed a morning meeting with yummy coffee, delicious Mamaki Iced Tea, & an Açaí Bowl.
